Omniya Collaboration with the Ministry of State for Sustainable Development Affairs

Ministry of State for Development and Sustainability Sponsors the Fourth “Omniyat Madrisitc” Plastic Collection Competition in Support of Recycling and Environmental Sustainability

Minister of State for Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Ghazi Al-Fulaij, received Sanaa Al-Ghamlas, CEO of “Omniya” the non-profit plastic collection company, and Farah Shaaban, Chief Operating Officer, as part of the Ministry’s support for national initiatives with environmental and social impact.

During the meeting, the Ministry of State for Development and Sustainability announced its sponsorship of “Omniya” in recognition of the company’s role in promoting the practice of sorting plastic waste at source, encouraging recycling, and raising sustainability awareness among various segments of society.

The “Omniya” team presented the company’s journey and its environmental and community initiatives, foremost among them the “Omniyat Madrisitc” competition, which targets students in public schools. The competition focuses on turning sustainability concepts into daily practices through awareness, participation, and measuring the quantities of plastic collected by students for recycling.

The meeting also discussed ways to expand cooperation between the Ministry and “Omniya” as well as supporting environmental initiatives that contribute to achieving Kuwait Vision 2035 and environmental governance standards, with the aim of advancing the circular economy and reducing waste.

Al-Ghamlas expressed her appreciation for the sponsorship provided by the Ministry of State for Development and Sustainability, emphasizing that this sponsorship represents important support for “Omniya’s” journey and mission, which originated within Kuwaiti society and seeks to build sustainable environmental behavior that begins with the individual and extends to schools, families, and government institutions.

For her part, Shaaban stressed the importance of this step in supporting the continuity of “Omniya” and adding significant value to the fourth edition of the “Omniyat Madrisitc” competition. The competition is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and the supervision of the Environment Public Authority during the first semester, and includes public schools across all educational levels.

The Ministry’s sponsorship represents a valuable addition from the government sector, alongside the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Interior represented by the Environmental Police, the Green Urban Development Initiatives Committee, and Kuwait Oil Company.
